Roads are safe for intended users, vehicles

Editor:
Remember the expression, where’s the beef? It would appear the Clearview councillors pushing the unsafe road mantra have forgotten to put the “beef” in the argument.
Unless The Creemore Echo has been slacking on their reporting of all the accidents that are occurring on the roads perhaps the unsafe road stuff which is being pushed by the 60s crowd may also be missing its “beef”.
I expect the reason nothing was reported was because nothing happened. Our roads are safe to drive your vehicle on at 80 km/h because of modern vehicle design however, if you choose to go out and play on those roads on your bicycle or taking family walks, maybe not.
These roads are purposed for the people that live in Clearview to use to get to work, move goods and services required within the community and beyond. They are secondary roads unimproved other than having a hard surface. These roads were gravel 30-plus years ago. I believe Robert Walker, our council member from Stayner, gets it very well. Only signs needed are “no bicycles.”
Those of us that work and live here should not be hindered in making our livelihood or drive our costs up by a policy which in fact will make our roads unsafe with a 60 km/h speed limit.
John Miller,
Creemore.

A direct, blunt and accurate point well made. A bit of fresh air that is badly needed.
