Collingwood Habitat for Humanity Restore ranked #6 in nation

The Collingwood Habitat for Humanity Restore outpaced many larger stores in October to rank sixth of 119 Canadian Restores in terms of sales per square foot.

Rob Cikoja, interim CEO of Habitat Southern Georgian Bay, says this is a noteworthy achievement.

“Sales per square foot is important because square footage is what we get charged for in leases and mortgages,” said Cikoja. “We are getting donated product out the door efficiently and raising more funds for the Habitat mission – to help families build strength, stability and independence through affordable home ownership.”

The success of the Collingwood Restore is due, in no small part, to a devoted staff of volunteers.

Creemore resident Tracey Kolowska (above) has been donating her time and talents at the Collingwood location for more than 16 years. Prior to moving to the area, she helped out at Restores in the city.

“I like helping out the customers and I love the volunteers,” she said. “It really is like a big family.”

Cikoja was named interim CEO of the Southern Georgian Bay affiliate in October. A decision on future governance of the Collingwood operation is expected early in the New Year.
