 Currie, Andrew “Mike” Kinnaird – Passed away, with family at his side, on Sunday February 4, 2024, in his 85th year. Andrew “Mike”, faithful husband of the late Bonnie Katherine (née Stoughton) (1943-2014) for 48 years. Loving father of Cindy and David. Survived by sister Ruth Josephine Lefler (née Currie) of Windsor, ON and sister-in-law Carol Ann Currie (née Potts) of Collingwood, ON. Predeceased by siblings Mary Ellen McEwen (née Currie) (1931-2016) and William “Peter” Currie (1935-2014). Mike was a good-humoured raconteur of local lore and regional history. A handsome and charismatic stalwart of the community, Mike was always eager to poke fun and to lend a helping-hand. A fifth-generation farmer who was active in the draft horse community, Mike was recognized for 65+ years of outstanding contributions to the Collingwood Agricultural Society and a lifetime of dedication to the Great Northern Exhibition. Mike’s involvement with the West Church Presbyterian Cemetery and past affiliation with the Nottawa Hall added to his investment in the community. Friends joined the family at the Chatterson Funeral Home, 404 Hurontario Street, Collingwood on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 for visitation from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and again from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A memorial service was held at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, 3521 County Road 124, Nottawa on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 11 o’clock with Catherine Brown officiating. A reception followed in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mike to the Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation for Campbell House or the West Nottawasaga Church Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
