Hygge Wellness, cozy and safe

 In Business

Jessica Bricker, who has re-branded her practice having newly launched Hygge Wellness, a separate business but with shared values.

Bricker chose the name Hygge after hearing on a podcast about the Danish principle of creating a warm atmosphere. To her, it’s all about creating a warm and cozy vibe with ambient lighting, soft textures, and plants, but most importantly, a feeling of safety.

She said that and a friendly atmosphere are essential elements in massage service.

After closing Mad Wellness, she said she feels like a phoenix rising from the ashes.

Bricker has been a registered massage therapist since 2019. Trained in Swedish massage, she has added modalities to include deep tissue, pre-natal and concussion therapy, and she is doing lymphatic draining training.

She said she takes a different approach to health care, and isn’t afraid to share with her clients her own struggles with chronic illness and mental wellness.

“I want them to know they are not alone in the battle,” said Bricker. “It’s important to be vulnerable.”

Bricker is also an end of life doula – someone who supports people at the end-of-life or their loved ones, incorporating massage, music and other comforts – and hopes to become a birthing doula in the future.
