Fountain sculpture returns to Village Green

 In Letters, Opinion

For many residents and visitors, the fountain featuring the Children’s Dress-up Dance Sculpture by Ralph Hicks was a highlight of the Creemore Horticultural Park, along with the gardens. The sculpture was removed, cleaned, and stored safely for the past two years. Now it is returning!
On Wednesday, Oct. 13 (or, if the weather is poor, on the 14th), it will be placed on the pedestal which has been built for it. The installation will occur during the morning when a truck with a crane will lift it into place.
The contractor hopes to remove a few of the upper boards along Mill Street to allow townspeople to watch from the sidewalk. Other viewing spots include the open space right next to Foodland or along the fence in the Station on the Green parking lot.
To celebrate this milestone, the Creemore Community Foundation has asked The Creemore Bakery to produce 150 large sugar cookies with the image from the sculpture of the young girl with the big hat displayed on the top of each cookie.
They will be free for the taking and can be picked up from the bakery following the sculpture installation for as long as they last. Please, only one cookie per person. Enjoy!
Over the next few weeks, curbs and benches will be put in place.
